Many years ago one of my friends set herself a target of playing seven new courses every year. Having been on numerous golfing trips with her I’ve managed to lose balls on 120+ courses in Ireland. Not bad going! She’s long-since modified her target, since the more courses you play, the harder it becomes to find ones that aren’t too far away.
All of the good golf manuals suggest that playing new courses is good for your game, as it makes you think about course management and forces you to try shots you wouldn’t play on your home course. If you’re wondering where you could venture to in 2020, you should have a look at an article that the good people at Golfshake.com published earlier this month entitled, “20 Courses to Play in 2020 in Northern Ireland” – as each one is “highly recommended”.
It’s worth pointing out that Dungannon Golf Club comes in at a creditable 13th place, based on ratings by “everyday golfers” submitted over the past year.
Lists like these are only as good as the golfers who review them. If you’ve played a new course, why not add your review, to help fellow golfers decide where to spend their hard-earned cash! If you’ve enjoyed a course, let others know.
